Extracurricular

Extracurricular Activities

At 7Hills, education does not stop when the final lesson ends.
Our extra-curricular programme is designed to stretch students intellectually, physically and socially. It builds independence, confidence and real-world readiness. Through leadership opportunities, global competitions, service experiences and practical exposure to the world of work, students discover who they are and who they can become.

Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is one of the world’s most respected youth development programmes, and 7Hills is proud to offer it as a core part of our enrichment provision.

Through the DofE journey, students:

  • Develop resilience and independence
  • Undertake community service
  • Build physical fitness
  • Learn new skills
  • Complete adventurous expeditions

The programme challenges students to step outside their comfort zones and take responsibility for their growth. It builds maturity, perseverance and leadership; qualities universities and employers highly value.

After-School Activities

Our vibrant After-School Activities programme ensures every student can pursue their interests and discover new passions.

Offerings vary throughout the year and may include:

  • Team sports and specialist coaching
  • Music and performing arts
  • STEM and robotics
  • Debate and public speaking
  • Art and design
  • Coding and digital innovation
  • Service and community initiatives

Participation encourages creativity, teamwork and self-confidence. Students learn to manage commitments, develop talents and collaborate across year groups.

Week Without Walls

Week Without Walls is one of the most exciting highlights of the 7Hills calendar.

During this immersive experience, students step beyond traditional classroom boundaries and engage in purposeful, real-world learning. Through outdoor education, cultural exploration, service projects, leadership challenges and environmental experiences, they develop practical skills and a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Week Without Walls strengthens friendships, builds resilience and nurtures independence, offering learning at its most dynamic, experiential, reflective and truly memorable.

Work Experience

At 7Hills, we believe students should graduate not only academically prepared, but career ready.

Our Work Experience programme gives students meaningful exposure to professional environments.

Through placements and mentorship, students:

  • Develop workplace confidence
  • Understand professional expectations
  • Explore career interests
  • Build communication skills
  • Strengthen responsibility and initiative

This practical experience helps students make informed decisions about future study pathways and careers.

Academic Competitions and Inter School Engagement

7Hills proudly participates in a range of inter school academic competitions, both within Uganda and internationally, including the World Scholar’s Cup, Model United Nations, Mathematics competitions, Chess tournaments, Creative Writing contests, and the Science Olympiad.

These platforms challenge students to think critically, collaborate globally, and compete with confidence.

Through these experiences, students develop:

  • Advanced research skills
  • Structured debating ability
  • Analytical writing
  • Problem solving and strategic thinking
  • Cross cultural collaboration
  • Confidence on national and international stages

Some of our students have represented 7Hills at prestigious events such as the Science Olympiad, while others have reached the World Finals of the World Scholar’s Cup.

These opportunities foster intellectual curiosity, resilience, and global awareness, while building meaningful connections with students from around the world. Participation reflects our strong commitment to academic excellence and global citizenship.
